Step 1: Access the Name Reservation Module
- Visit the official website of the Office of Company Registrar (OCR) in Nepal.
- Locate the Name Reservation section on the homepage.
- Click on “Get Started” under the Name Reservation Card to begin the process.

Step 2: Specify The Type Of Company
Options: Private, Public, Foreigner Owned, Profit not distributing
Below is a brief explanation of each company type option and who should choose it:
- Private (प्राइभेट): A privately held company with limited shareholders, not publicly traded. Suitable for small to medium-sized businesses owned by a few individuals.
Choose this if you are starting a small or medium business with limited shareholders.
- Public (पब्लिक): A publicly traded company that can offer shares to the general public. Ideal for large businesses seeking public investment.
Choose this if you plan to list your company on the stock exchange and raise capital from the public.
- Foreigner Owned (बिदेशी): A company primarily owned by foreign investors or entities. Designed for businesses with foreign investment.
Choose this if you are a foreign investor or your company has foreign ownership.
- Profit Not Distributing( मुनाफा वितरण नगर्ने): A company that reinvests profits into its operations rather than distributing them to shareholders. Typically used by non-profit organizations or social enterprises.
Choose this if your company operates for social or charitable purposes and does not distribute profits to shareholders.



Step 3: Company Name Check
- On the Name Reservation page, you will see options to enter your desired company name in both Nepali and English.
- Select the Company Type from the dropdown menu (e.g., Private Limited, Public Limited, etc.).
- Enter the proposed company name in both languages.

Step 4: Review Name Availability Results
After clicking “Continue”, the system will display one of the following results:
a. Company Name Available
- If the name is available, click on “Continue Registration” to proceed with the name reservation process.

b. Company Name Available, but Similar Names Exist
- If the name is available but similar names exist, you will see a warning message.
- Choose one of the following options:
- Click “Continue Registration” if you want to proceed with the entered name.
- Click “Try Again with Alternative Company Name” to enter a different name.
c. Company Name Not Available
- If the name is not available, click “Try Again with Alternative Company Name” to enter a new name and check its availability.

Step 5: Proceed with Name Reservation
- Once the name is approved, you will be directed to the next step for Name Reservation.
- Fill in the required details, such as:
- Applicant’s name and contact information.
- Supporting documents (if required).
- Pay the applicable fee for name reservation through the provided payment gateway.
- Submit the form and wait for confirmation from the Office of Company Registrar.
Step 6: Receive Confirmation
- After successful submission and payment, you will receive a confirmation message or email.
- The reserved name will be valid for a specific period (usually 90 days). Ensure you complete the company registration process within this timeframe.

- Ensure the proposed company name complies with the naming guidelines provided by the Office of Company Registrar.
- If the reserved name expires, you will need to repeat the name reservation process.
